Robert A. Buchanan was a Libertarian candidate in Virginia's 10th congressional district election, 1998. He said:[1]

I want people to vote for me because they all want more control over their lives and money and are encouraged to help people in need. There are some obvious things we can do to start moving in this direction. We can take control of our retirements by privatizing social insecurity. We can take back control of our healthcare with creative solutions like medical savings accounts and end government meddling in healthcare. For those peace loving citizens who choose to, we can take the power to protect ourselves from criminals by owning firearms, ending the insane war on drugs.
